In a landslide vote (73 to 25), the Senate has passed the food safety bill. Now the bill just needs to make it past the House before the end of the year.
Last year the House passed its own version and the usual legislative process involves a lot of negotiation to match up House and Senate versions of the same legislation. If there is a lot of argument, the clock may run out.
Will the small farm/producer exemption make it through the process? We’ll have to wait and see.
